Where are you based out of? Scottsdale Arizona

Are you currently a part-time or full-time photographer?
Full time

What is your predominant photographic specialization?
Weddings/ Elopements/ Engagements

What camera(s) do you currently shoot with?
Nikon D810’s

How would you define your style?
Our style is light and Airy with a little subtle punch of moodiness. (Kind of like our 5 year old)

What motivated you to become a photographer?
Joy and I wanted to be able to capture moments in time for people. We wanted to give others the gift of remembering how they once were. For example, I remember looking through my parent’s wedding album growing up. You know the non-professional one where the pages stuck together and the cover was super fluffy and handcrafted? I laugh at the album now, but I loved seeing my parents that way. How they were when they were young. We want to deliver photos that invoke the same emotions in our bride and grooms and their future kids.

What is it that you try to convey with your work?
Emotion. Love. Joy. Warmth. We want people to not only see how they feel but actually feel it themselves.

How do you accomplish that?
It really depends on the emotion we are trying to draw out of them. Most of the time we tell a story. Something that will bring out the intended emotion. Ben has amazingly bad “dad” jokes and Joy is just funny so that always helps.

What do you do during a session or wedding day to help make your clients feel comfortable?
This is a big one. Most important thing is communication. Over communicate. Then do it even more. We believe that sessions success begins way before we arrive to take photos. It’s in how you prepare your clients, from what to wear, to how its okay to feel. And then on the day of the shoot, we are constantly talking to them, telling them what a great job they are doing. We let them know its okay to feel weird and be weird at this moment. Because unless they are professional models having your photos taken is weird.

Have you had a photographer inspire your work, and if so, who and why?
Yes. a lot. The first one, Steve Steinhardt without him and his guidance we would have never started in photography. Second Amy and Jordan Demos. They really helped to teach us and mentor us in many ways. From here we really started to develop our own style that we love and works for us.

What is your most memorable accomplishment so far in your photography career?
We’ve been featured in magazines and blogs, traveled to a lot of awesome places. But the most memorable accomplishment really is when we deliver that wedding gallery to our couple. We are huge, huge believers in how we treat and work with our couples. And because of that we often become good friends with them. So for us, I would say creating friendships that continue on after the wedding. That to me is something special.

What is one important lesson you have learned during your career?
Service. Serve your clients. Be the best photographer, planner, friend, timekeeper, whatever they need, you can be. Care about them and their happiness.

The Cloth books with a 5×5 window for your USB’s mostly.
