Are you currently a part-time or full-time photographer? Full-time
What is your predominant photographic specialization? Weddings
What camera(s) do you currently shoot with? Canon Mark III, 6D
How would you define your style?
REAL. Natural, photojournalistic, romantic photos that capture your most authentic moments. No posed non-sense. We don’t slap a filter on and call it a day. Your photos should feel timeless. We strive to achieve that.
What motivated you to become a photographer?
Corporate America, ha! I like being my own boss. Nothing beats working from home in your pj’s, making your own hours, and taking a day off when you need it. I also loved photography so I decided to make a career out of it. Eventually, I moved to Chicago and started working for a men’s fashion company called Trunk Club. That really boosted my desire to learn and practice more.
What is it that you try to convey with your work?
We try to convey real emotion. I want our couples to look back at their photos and remember what an awesome time they had. We want them to feel what it actually felt to be in that moment again.
How do you accomplish that?
We try to build relationships with our couples. It’s important to us that our couples are comfortable around us, and are able to be themselves. I also think getting to work with your significant other, who is also your best friend, brings a contagious amount of energy to every shoot.
Have you had a photographer inspire your work, and if so, who and why?
Yes! Too many to name. I love Lauren Apel. Her work is stunning and it sets her so far apart from other photographers. She has a way of photographing couples that is so natural and uniquely beautiful. I also love Katch Silva & Sara Byrne. Their photos come off effortless and so full of life. They are all insanely talented.
What is your most memorable accomplishment so far in your photography career?
Before I did weddings I was the photographer for a men’s fashion company called Trunk Club. I had amazing opportunities through that company and have several photos in GQ, Elle, Refinery 29, Travel & Leisure, and Delta Airlines. Nothing beats seeing your photos in print whether they are for a magazine or a wedding package.
What is one thing you have learned during your career?
Building a business takes time. I think a lot of photographers get discouraged because they don’t have overnight success. Photography is a never-ending learning process.
Which Photographer Supply Company products do you currently use?
We use the wooden mahogany USB and the flash drive box holder in every gift package to our clients. I also love my handmade cotton camera strap. After we re-brand I might switch things up, I’m lovin’ the rose gold USB’s!
How have Photographer Supply Company products helped your business?
Photographer Supply Co. has beautiful products and wonderful customer service. I love being able to send something that is beautiful and able to be customized. I love the quality, the finishes, the diversity of products offered, and the fast shipping. I’m always impressed & that’s why we keep coming back.
