We spent the past couple of weeks sharing some FREE online tools available to help you create your own Logo and Monogram (check out the links if you missed our previous posts!). Now once you have these elements it is time to submit your artwork to get engraved on our products. But what if you do not own Photoshop or have no clue how to use such software.
We have found the perfect solution to replace Photoshop and the best part about it? It is FREE! A free alternative to Photoshop is available online and it allows you to create documents that you can submit back to us for your custom engraving orders.
We have created a tutorial to walk you through the whole process!
The website to visit is PIXLR!
Step 1) Click on the ‘TRY PHOTO EDITOR – PIXLR X’ button to get started.
Step 2) Click on the ‘CREATE NEW’ link located at the top of the page.
Step 3) Name your document. It’s a good practice to name it with the product you will be engraving. Pixlr has a history tab where you can go back to your previous projects which makes it easier to repeat a project.
After you name your project you are going to want to enter the Width and Height of your canvas for the product you will be engraving. Each of our products has specific dimensions to use. Use the following dimensions for the product you would like to engrave:
Skinny USB – 460 x 230
Chubby USB – 490 x 340
3.5 x 3.5 Wood Box – 1200 x 1280
4×6 Print Only – 1370 x 1800
4×6 Print+USB – 2010 x 1715
5×7 Print Only – 1650 x 1970
5×7 Print+USB – 2230 x 1930
Don’t forget to turn Background ‘On’ and make sure the color is set to White.
Step 4) Once your canvas has loaded you will want to create a new layer that contains your logo or monogram that you have created. Click the ‘+’ symbol on the right side of the screen and then click the ‘Image’ button to load your Logo or Monogram.
Once your graphic has loaded you can expand or shrink it on the canvas to the size you want on your PSCo product.
If you haven’t created a logo or monogram but want to create your own custom text, you have this option available on PIXLR! Simply click the ‘T’ Text tool on the bottom left of the screen and click the ‘Add New Text’ button. You will then have a wide variety of fonts to choose from when designing your project.
Step 5) Final step is to save your new graphic. Click on the blue ‘Save’ button located at the bottom of the page. We recommend saving the file as a JPG at 100% Quality. Click the download button and it will be saved to your download folder. Now take your file and email it over to email@example.com with your Order Number. Thanks for reading!
