How would you define your style?    My style is laid back and meaningful.

What motivated you to become a photographer?
Capturing my own children and capturing humans. To be honest, photography isn’t where my heart is, it’s in the relationships I capture. I am obsessed with capturing connection and authentically representing my families. However, I realized that I LOVE business and am just as passionate about the business side as the artistic side.

What is it that you try to convey with your work?
I am trying to portray real human connection. I don’t care about trendy styling or epic location. I want to show my families that they are beautiful and magnificent. I want to show them that every part of them is worth capturing. I want to capture a little piece of humanity.

How do you accomplish that?
I accomplish this with a ton of directing. I create a relaxed environment for my families to really relax and be vulnerable, then I guide and direct into genuine and meaningful moments to be captured. I actually “pose” a lot and then direct.

Have you had a photographer inspire your work, and if so, who and why?
Of course. Too many to name but I will see that Annie Leibovitz is a huge inspiration for me. Her ability to capture human connection is incredible.

What is your most memorable accomplishment so far in your photography career?
Gosh. This is such a tough one. I think it was perhaps when my approach to family photography was featured in The Huffington Post. But quite honestly, my biggest and most humbling accomplishment is when a family returns to me year after year for their photos. Means the world to me.

What is one thing you have learned during your career?
To trust the process. We are always becoming.
