PHOTOGRAPHER SPOTLIGHT | ROYAL HART STUDIO

Date: June 19, 2017

Preferred Name:    Matt & Anna (Soon to be the Byes!)

Business Name:   Royal Hart Studio

Website:   https://royalhartstudio.myportfolio.com/

Where are you based out of?   Minneapolis

Are you currently a part-time or full-time photographer?    Part-Time

What is your predominant photographic specialization?    Weddings!

What camera(s) do you currently shoot with?   Canon and Nikon. No, we actually don’t fight all the time!

How would you define your style?    Timeless, artistic, and authentic

What motivated you to become a photographer?
Matt: I’m an observer and creative at heart. I love the art of presenting the world how I see it while still showcasing what’s already there.
Anna: I’m a storyteller! I love using images to craft a visual framework for beautiful narratives.

What is it that you try to convey with your work?
We strive to see the beauty in who our clients are and authentically represent them and their story.

How do you accomplish that?
Making friends! It’s so much fun getting to know our clients and such a huge honor to be a big part of big moments in life. We try to stay thankful in every moment. And it’s such a joy to be with people in love!

Have you had a photographer inspire your work, and if so, who and why?
We both teared up a little on our very first date to the Minneapolis Institute of Art where they have both an Ansel Adams and a Dorothea Lange print.
M: Ansel was the master of darkroom masters. He’s a big reason I love landscape work and the main reason I lived in Yosemite Nat’l Park!
A: What can I say, she captured emotion and told a story with one frame better than an entire text.

What is your most memorable accomplishment so far in your photography career?
A: Honestly, we’re still at the point in our careers where it’s just a straight-up honor to work with each of our couples and clients. Getting to know and serving them is why we’re in it. Matt gets so excited with good photographs that he starts making funny noises and dancing around a little bit.
M: Yeah, well… I like photography! I just know that if I love it, they’ll love it! Seeing peoples’ faces light up when we sneak them a peek on-camera is so fun!

What is one thing you have learned during your career?
Stay humble. We’re there for you, not for us.

Which Photographer Supply Company products do you currently use?
We LOVE the natural wood USB drives!

How have Photographer Supply Company products helped your business?
Having the ability to customize the [gorgeous] wood USBs with our clients’ names is a HUGE selling point for them. The USBs work very well with our delivery methods and add that personal touch that we strive for that a CD or plain USB lacks.
