What is your studio’s name? Erica Lynne Photography

Where is your studio based? Baton Rouge, LA

Studio Website? http://ericalynnephotography.22slides.com/

Are you currently a part-time or full-time photographer? Part-Time

What is your predominant photographic specialization? Lifestyle and Wedding

What camera(s) do you currently shoot with? Canon 5D Mark II

How would you define your style?

I like to keep my style very relaxed and full of emotion and candidness.

What motivated you to become a photographer?

When I was a little girl I loved taking pictures with disposable cameras. Growing up my friends and I spent our time hanging out and  taking the most ridiculous pictures and to this day they are some of my most valuable treasures. I received my first DSLR from my parents 10 years ago while I was in high school so I owe many thanks to them for giving me that next step and supporting me. Every picture comes with a story so I love being able to capture that. It’s like hitting a pause button during a moment

What is it that you try to convey with your work?

Genuine emotion. It’s what brings the picture and story to life.

How do you accomplish that?

I try to accomplish this by doing a number of things. I do believe it is very important to get to know your clients so that they can feel at ease during the photo shoot. I will sometimes say and do some crazy things to get my clients to laugh…I basically make a fool of myself when need be. When it comes to family pictures I try to make it more of a family outing than just ok were showing up here to take pictures. If young children are involved I try to make an adventure out of it.

Have you had a photographer inspire your work, and if so, who and why?

The first photographer whose work I ever fell in love with is a local photographer Ashleigh Jayne. Her photos still to this day are beautiful and genuine. I was in college at the time and just thought wow I know for sure this is what I want to do. I want to capture peoples stories and help girls feel beautiful. Another photographer is Ben Sasso, his work literally takes my breath away and he is all about sharing the knowledge. It would be an absolute dream to one day take one of his Heck Yeah classes. The last photographer that inspires me is another local photographer who goes by Meadowlark Artistry. She has no idea how much she has helped me not only be more open and comfortable about using photography to express my feelings but she has also inspired me to get back into drawing and painting. She is such an amazing and talented person with a great heart.

What is your most memorable accomplishment so far in your photography career?

I’ve been doing this for about 10 years now and this is the first time I’m featured on a blog YAY! *pats self on the back. One thing about being a photographer though is the rewarding feeling of accomplishment when you see your clients reaction to their photos.

What is one thing you have learned during your career?

The more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll feel, and the better you will be.

Which Photographer Supply Co. products do you currently use?

I use the USB drive and the Burlap & Jute Print Pouch Holder. I tell my brides it is the perfect pouch for keeping all sorts of memorabilia from the wedding day in.
